Soul Less is a comic I am currently working on. It is a fantasy/adventure story with supernatural elements and religious themes.
Synopsis
The Clemmons are a family of three that live peacefully in a small neighborhood full of old, cookie-cutter houses. Their life is simple, and neighbors describe them as 'quirky but sensible people.’ There’s Clara Clemmons, a passionate and outspoken woman who owns and runs a small thrift store in the city, Richard Clemmons, an awkward, stay-at-home dad who spends most of his time knitting and building model train sets, and Edith Clemmons, Richard and Clara’s only child.
Edith, at first glance, is your average, 22-year-old college student. They’re very introverted compared to other adults, they're awfully quiet, they don’t have many friends, and they seem like they’d much rather keep to themselves. There’s not much about them that really stands out, aside from the large mop of pink hair on their head (which they insist is natural.) Nothing bad has ever happened to Edith before. Despite that, for the longest time they've noticed they feel empty inside.
On the outside, they seem to be doing alright. They’re not failing any of their classes, they’re okay financially...but they still feel as if their whole existence is meaningless, like nothing they do matters. Their parents say their feelings might be a result of depression, but they’re not so sure. To them, their emptiness feels like a deeper-rooted issue, but they can never describe what they mean by that. They’re not sure they know themselves.
In the heat of their fourth year of college, Edith is forced to endure a devastating event. This event is sudden and rocks them to their core. Shortly afterwards they begin to receive strange messages they suspect are connected to what they went through. These messages urge them to remember who they really are, and the event they experienced only furthers their determination to find out why they’ve been feeling so insignificant their entire life.
